Bar None Gamebirds Website Complete

The Bar None Gamebirds Website is complete and uploaded at:

http://www.barnonebirds.com

The website is for the company called Bar None Gamebirds, Bar None Gamebirds is a Chukar bird farm located in the heart of upland bird hunting country. Bar None Gamebirds provides quality: Chukar Partridge Eggs, Churkar Partridge Day-Old Chicks, and Chukar Partridge Flight Birds to growers, breeders, and game preserves.

The majority of the website was designed by Donald Kohler with a few design tweaks and suggestions by me. I wrote all of the code in ActionScript 3 using Flash CS3.

In the future we are planning on making the site a little interactive by having birds fly out of the field at random and possibly allowing the users to shoot them using the mouse cursor.

FreezeFrame Website Complete

The FreezeFrame Photographic Dance Contest website is complete and launched at:

http://www.freezeframedance.com

This site is for a photographic dance contest called FreezeFrame, that seeks to honor the dancer by transcending the limitations of time, and capturing art in motion. On the site users can register to enter the contest for a fee, see the tour dates to see when and where the FreezeFrame dance contests will be held, view current and past winners as well as view the gallery of previous participants.

Site overview
In the beginning stages of construction, I was planning on making the majority of the site dynamic. However, due to budget and time restrictions, only the gallery section is dynamic. This site can be modified in the future to be completely dynamic if the client has a need and a budget for it. The dynamic photo gallery uses an XML file to populate the image thumbnails. In addition to containing the file paths to each of the images, the XML file provided the gallery page with each of the images' height and width information. This information was then used to dynamically center the image when the full screen option is activated. One major functionality improvement to the photo gallery, is the ability to navigate to the next and previous images while in full screen mode. This feature may become an upgrade to my current portfolio site's galleries.

The music and volume controller was added to the site with out a hitch. I ended up using a modified version of the volume controller from my portfolio site as well as giving each site it's own musical track. All of the music used on the site were edited from free music tracks found on http://www.flashkit.com.

On the Winners page, an enlargement function was added to allow the user to see each of the winners photos at full screen.

Two sections of the site that use a PHP script to send an email to FreezeFrame are the Contact Us and the Register page. The client is wanting me to provide him with an estimate to create an application in PHP to automatically process the registration information and send it to PayPal to process the registration fee. This will require some additional research before I can give him an accurate estimate about the time and cost of the project. If I get commissioned to develop this application I will post about it here.

In addition, to completing this FreezeFrame site, I have also updated the web section of my portfolio website to include the FreezeFrame website.

New website FreezeFrame

Today I started working on a new flash website called FreezeFrame. From what I can gather, it is a dance photography competition. The copy hasn't been delivered yet, so I'm basically going off of the photographs I've received and what the client has described to me about it. So far the intro home page and dynamic gallery section has been created and uploaded waiting for client approval. Below is a screen shot and the url to the work in progress is http://www.pryzemedia.com/freezeframe.

This flash website is very similar to a website I created for the same client almost 2 years ago located at http://www.malekfoto.com. It's basically a major upgrade to the old design and code. The finish site will have music and a controller added to it similar to the one located on my Pryze Media site http://www.pryzemedia.com and all of the content will be dynamic minus the intro. I may end up changing the home page intro into a dynamic section if I end up having a lot of requests to change out the images. For now I'm leaving the intro as is, unless otherwise requested by the client.

I will continue to update the progress on this site and any other new developments at Pryze Media on this blog as it happens.
